Information
Services
Every Monday, students are informed of the school's weekly activities
and events taking place in and around Rimini. Groups are organized for
those interested in participating. Please note that some activity costs
are not included in the course fees.
Sport activities
The following activities can be arranged: aerobics, basketball, beach
volley, bike tours, golf, gym, hiking, horseriding (lessons and excursions),
jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing and swimming.
Sailing and Windsurfing
The school has special arrangements with local sailing and windsurfing
centers that, apart from providing hire facilities, also offer courses
at all levels. Further details will be given on arrival at the school.
Cycling
Rimini's coast and countryside offer excellent opportunites for interesting
excursions, and students can obtain special reductions for bicycle hire
for short or long periods. Since Rimini is particularly flat, bicycles
are an ideal means of environmentally friendly local transport.
Horse back riding
Not to be missed is country horse back riding. There are several riding
centers near Rimini that offer lessons for beginners. The school provides
relevant information and organizes interesting group excursions.
Excursions
The school organizes optional excursions every two weeks, on weekends,
to a number of towns and cities of historical interest. These include
Venice, Florence, Pisa, San Marino, Ravenna, Urbino and Siena.
Guided Rimini Tour
Once a week one of our History of Art teachers accompanies students to
the Civic Art Gallery, several museums, churches and the city centre.
Free of charge.
Local Events
There are many interesting traditional festivals in the Rimini area, to
which the school organizes visits. Free of charge.
Dinner
and Dance
Dinner with teachers, students and Italian friends on the first day of
school and once-a-week dinners are organized in a local restaurant. The
evening's entertinment includes music and dancing with traditional folk
dancing and songs.
Art and Crafts
There are many craftsmen in the Rimini area who still practice traditional
crafts, such as, wood carving and pottery. The school, in collaboration
with the city's tourist organisations, arranges weekend visits to these
workshops. Free of charge
Films
Italian films by great directors such as De Sica, Fellini and Visconti
are shown once a week at the school. Free of charge.
Fax and e-mail service
Upon request, students can send and receive faxes through the secretary's
office.
The Beach
Rimini's splendid sandy beach welcomes vacationers, sailing, windsurfing
and sea sports enthusiasts from April right through to October. A wide
range of sporting activities, entertainment and leisure facilities are
available. Full information can be obtained from the school. Rimini enjoys
a mild climate in the autmn and winter months, and the beach is the ideal
place for long and invigorating strolls.
Music and Dancing
Music and dancing are deeply ingrained in the hearts of Rimini's people.
Opportunities are thus offered for entertainment and enjoyment, ranging
from modern discos to local venues with live bands and a friendly atmosphere.
Library and Reading Room
The library is available for study or simply just to read and relax. Interesting
publications about Italy and the Italians are at the students' disposal.
Subjects include classical to modern literature, art during the Renaissance
period, Chianti wines, origins of opera, local festivals and guide books
on local restaurants and things to see and do, etc.
Goodbye Party
At the end of the course the school organizes a "farewell" party,
to which visiting friends and relatives are invited. It is a perfect occasion
to say "Arrivederci" to fellow students, teachers and new-found
friends.
