"Italian" - the language of music. It's essential for conductors, opera singers, opera lovers and theater directors to study Italian and for this reason the Institute has a Music Department. Teachers are accomplished professional musicians and opera singers.

The Language of the Libretti
This course is for opera singers or opera lovers who want to be able to understand the language of librettos by Da Ponte, Giacosa, Illica, Metastasio and Piave. The course analyzes the relationship between the text and the music in the historical context.

History of Opera
This course covers opera from its origins in the seventeenth century Medici court up to modern trends through analysis of the works of Bellini, Monteverdi, Pergolesi, Puccini, Rossini and Verdi.

 
(G13) Diction
This course is designed to appeal to opera singers desiring to improve their diction under expert guidance.

Summer course for opera singer
The I Malatesta School organises complete summer courses for opera singers. Students follow an integrated program which includes Italian, singing lessons, stagecraft, coaching and History of Italian Opera. Staff in the Singing Department work at an international level.
